Amazing Wadi Rum Desert Adventures in Jordan: Wadi Rum Map

Back from England travel and from my first day at my new job! Love, love my new work challenge which will be managing the e-commerce business with our partners in the Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg) which means I will be often on the road. Next week is my first appointment with a partner in the eastern part of the Netherlands =)

Anyway, I want to post a map of Wadi Rum before I start with my adventure series. It is always best to have an overview of the places of interest in Wadi Rum.

There are quite a handful of places of interest in Wadi Rum but we only visited some. Wadi Rum is a preserved area in Jordan covering 720 square kilometers of desert and sandstone and granite mountains. Although tourism has taken over the place, there are Bedouins that still live in the Wadi Rum wildnerness with little or no facilities, and some in nomadic existence.

In the map above, the coloured part are the only areas in Wadi Rum that can be accessed freely. The green and yellow tent icons are the permanent (Bedouin) campsites while the red ones are temporary.

I will start with the Sand Dunes adventure in my next entry!

Travel Period: April 2011
Destination: Wadi Rum, Jordan
