5-Course Dinner in Utrecht: Divinatio

Glad it’s weekend again so I can relax a bit. Last night I was at Moeke Spijkstra in Blaricum having dinner with colleagues and of course I didn’t take fotos of the food. I only take fotos when no one is looking and at less intimidating eating places haha. My beef carpaccio and grilled tuna on a bed of vegetables were lovely though. And this afternoon we are off to a barbecue party in Friesland. So much for my diet this summer. After today I promise to keep watch of what’s going into my mouth. And it’s time to run again as well. I just hope the weather cooperates.

Anyway, Dutchman and I were at Divinatio, a fine dining restaurant in Utrecht the other week. We originally ordered a 4-course meal but it turned out to be a delightful 5-course meal.

The whole cute interestingly designed modern building is the restaurant.

We were first served with carrot and goat’s cheese (really nice), then I had some tuna while Dutchman had some meat (nice as well). For the third course which is the main one, we had duck, really good as well. Dessert was a lovely selection of ice cream. I do not have a sweet tooth but this one was scrummy. For coffee, they served us a plate of sweets completing the 5-course dinner.

Rating: 5 stars out of 5

Because it’s an exclusive restaurant I was naturally quite shy at taking fotos but I managed to take a foto of our dessert and the sweet goodies that went with our coffee.

My definition of exclusive is not just the price level of the restaurant or if they have a Michelin star, it’s when a restaurant have waiters who can talk with passion about the history, quality and characteristics of the wine you ordered. Dutchman doesn’t give a freak about wines but he thought it was quite pleasant to listen, rather eavesdrop, for a change.

If you want to dine here, you would need to reserve in advance. Divinatio is beside Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Use google to find the restaurant information on the net.
