Smushi for breakfast at Torvehallerne KBH in Copenhagen!

A smushi is actually a smørrebrød. Smørrebrøds are Danish open-style sandwiches that are very popular for brunch in Copenhagen. The difference with a smushi is they are Japanese inspired (read: sushi), are smaller than the hearty smorrebrod and are quite artistic in food design.

This smushi was my breakfast yesterday in Torvehallerne KBH (this is a must place to visit and will post more about this gastronomic haven soon).

It’s Sunday and the skies are blue and the sun is shining outside.

I’m actually sick, I have colds and I have fever since last night. I managed to buy some basic medication, paracetamol and strepsils. I do not really feel grand this morning but OK enough to get out. Well I hope. I don’t want to be bed bound so I’m going to take it nice, easy and slow today.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
