Dinner at Restaurant Trouw in Amsterdam

Me and a good old friend Herr Philippe that I haven’t seen in almost a year had dinner at Trouw Restaurant in Amsterdam last Friday. I found the restaurant, and a bunch of other cool places that I will soon be checking out, by chance online.

Restaurant Trouw might not be located in the heart of Amsterdam but it sure is a restaurant worthy of a visit. Philippe and I were so glad we went here. We love their scrumptious refreshing food. This place is best for those who are into healthy eating or are vegetarians as they serve a lot of vegetable based dishes on the menu. I love my vegetables. Highly recommended!

Link: Restaurant Trouw, and here’s what we ordered:

* Bread and hummus (4 stars out of 5)
* Bagna cauda, warm anchovy dip with raw vegetables (5 stars, this has got to be my favourite, the anchovy dip... mmm... I have no words. I will come back here for this, seriously)
* Bean Salade, zucchini, poached egg and Manchengo (5 stars, another favourite)
* Carrot with garlic and coriander (free)
* Pasteis de bacalhau, Portuguese hake croquettes (Herr Philippe says it was good so 4 stars)
* Pata negra, Jamon Iberico de Bellota (4 stars, the best one I had was still in Madrid)
* Baby potatoes with sea salt and Mojo verde (4 stars)

For dessert, Philippe ordered chocolate cake while I had the Limoncello di Amalfi. We also had coffee. For the rest I had Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon and Prosecco while Philippe stuck to his Fritz Kola, a cola brand from Hamburg, Germany.

Herr Philippe and I go back more than 5 years ago and we have been travel buddies, well not intentionally. It just so happen that we were in the same city at the same time: Barcelona & Montserrat (2007), Athens (2008), Brussels (2010) and New York supposedly but he got sick and was tied to his bed so I was left alone to discover the city.

Our dinner and catch up went on like forever, I was blathering away, haha and before we knew it, it was 11 in the evening and the club adjacent to the restaurant has opened its doors. The waitress told us that because we dined in the restaurant our entrance to the club which is 17,50 Euros per person is waived. Oh cool.

The club adjacent to the restaurant, not busy yet.

So we checked out the club of course but we didn’t really stayed that long, but hey, what a great idea for next time, a weekend dinner here and (free entrance) clubbing thereafter.

Thank you Philippe for the wonderful evening. I always enjoy my time with you. You have topped yourself once again! Not to mention for pumping up my car’s tires at 1AM in the morning, haha.

Visit Period: May 2012
