Give this donkey some love

On the way (walking) to Anaxos Beach we saw this cute donkey along the road. Dutchman and I couldn’t resist, we have to stop and give this friendly donkey some love.

I have never really ridden on a donkey, and honestly, I don’t really want to. I don’t know but I just have this strong outpouring of compassion every time I see the poor little thing being used as a means of transportation and entertainment for the tourists. I just find these animals so meek, fragile and defenceless. Someone needs to rescue them from this donkey slavery by humans! Haha, maybe it’s just between my ears?

Anyways, donkey rides are a main tourist attraction in the Greek Islands. Even in Spain, Jordan and Morocco as well.

In Anaxos-Petra-Molyvos (Mithymna) in Lesvos Island travel agencies offer a mid-afternoon donkey ride package with lunch or coffee. The journey is from the beach to a mountain village and back. We stumbled upon the group on the way up to Vafeios. Poor donkeys!

The pictures above were taken from a moving scooter. I think I have somewhat mastered street and panorama photography from the back of the Dutchman on a 20-50kph speeding scooter. Ah, the things you learn and adapt when travelling, just to capture a moment.
