Petra Village in Lesvos


Dutchman and I visited Petra several times during our summer holiday. We came here for lunch, for the beach, for dinner and of course I didn’t pass the chance as well to check out the little old town while I left the Dutchman with his nose buried in a book at the beach. He loves lounging at the beach with a reading material in hand combined with the ocassional dipping in the sea.

Petra actually means ‘rock’ and the village took its name from the colossal monolith located in the old town centre that is crowned by the Panagia Glykofiloussa Church. It is a breathtaking sight. This is the symbol of Petra. I will blog about the church and the wonderful views on my next entry.

Anyway, I like Petra. And I like that it is very near to our apartment in Anaxos. It’s good to know that civilization is not that far away =)
