Lassi, Kefalonia: The Unspoiled Beauty of Platis Gialos Beach

Lassi Beach Resort near Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia is perhaps the most touristy among the beach resorts in the island. The area reminds us of the busy beaches of Kos and Crete. Skala Beach Resort located in the other side of the island on the south eastern part would be the runner up.

One of the picturesque beaches here that one must visit is Platis Gialos Beach. It is perhaps one of the beautiful unspoiled natural beaches in the area. The waters are shallow here so it is a great beach for families with children, and people like me who cannot really swim that well (hah!).

The rock island formation and the sandbar connecting the mainland beach is breathtaking. Complemented with thick vegetation of cypress and pine trees around the shores, it’s a setting perfect for a photo shoot scene. I also found out that the locals call the sandbar the Tourkopodaro aka the Turk’s leg. Hmmm, the Greeks and Turks were previously archnemesis you know, so I wonder what really is the meaning behind this.

The beach is just 3 kilometres from Argostoli.

Please click the + and - to zoom in and out the map. It is a 20-minute drive from our base camp in Moussata. I wished we discovered this place a bit earlier.

Can you now understand why we have fallen in love with the Greek Islands?

A little taverna on the rocks.
