Myrtos Beach: Stunning View from the Top (Kefalonia, Greece)

Almost everyone in Kefalonia says that this is the best beach in the Greek Islands. The aerial beach view has graced so many advertorial campaigns of Greece and has been the face of many postcards of Kefalonia.

I can understand why so many are captivated by Myrtos. The beach is sandy, white and pristine looking. It is beautifully located on a rugged high cliff facing the blue Ionian Sea. From the road, they built a lookout point where passers-by can enjoy the view down to Myrtos. The beach is indeed postcard perfect.

We met a British couple here at the lookout who has been to Kefalonia for the last 8 years and everytime they are in the island, they always stay in Fiskardo in the northern part of the island. They were very nice to recommend us a little beach with a taverna hut in the Paliki peninsula.

Myrtos Beach reminds me however of the Navagio Beach aka Shipwreck Beach in Zakynthos Island where we have been to several years ago.

Myrtos is located in Pylaros area just before reaching the quaint seaside village of Asos. Here is our driving map from Moussata our holiday base to Myrtos:

Zoom in to see the beach. You can also click the satellite option (the little blue box on lower left side of the map) to see the terrain of the island.

There is only one rental that manage the sunbed and parasols on the beach. Of course, you can always bring your own.

 From the Myrtos lookout.

Yup, we did go down to the beach.

More pictures of Myrtos next!
