Kefalonia, Greece: Lassi Coastline, Kalamia and Gradakia Beaches and Getting a Tan

Aside from the famous beaches of Makris Gialos and Platis Gialos, the Lassi beach resort area is home to some small, cosy beaches.

We visited 2 small beaches, Kalamia and Gradakia beaches before settling at Costa Costa in Makris Gialos. I cannot remember anymore which is which beach in the pictures below.

Dutchman and I enjoyed scootering this particular coastline of Kefalonia, especially if you are coming from the airport and you follow the winding road along the coast of Lassi all the way to the capital, Argostoli. One of the very nice roads and relaxing rides we have had on the island.

A little confession time: I was born on an island (Cebu) in the Philippines and grew up with family going to the beaches but I have to admit that I never really loved the beach scene. Maybe it has something to do with the social taboo that still exists there unfortunately, that one must not stay too long under the sun. Beach is synonymous to sun, and this means getting a darker tan. People in the Philippines, and in Asia in general, are afraid of getting dark. If you are dark you are supposed to be unattractive.

Alas, it was the beach-loving Dutchman and our summer holidays to the Greek Islands that has woken me up from this deep slumber. I have come to love the beach (been years now!) and I am not afraid of the sun anymore =)

The Fanari Lighthouse facing the second largest town of the island, Lixouri.

Algae on the pristine waters.

We love this road, the Lassi coastline road.

Lassi is home to small and cosy beaches like this.

There are also many rocky beaches with cave formations here in Lassi.
