Lamb Birth in Orvelte, Netherlands

We witnessed a sheep giving birth to 2 lambs!

What a great timing. Bru and I just finished our smoke salmon salad lunch at the De Schapendrift when we strolled in to De Schaapskooien (sheep barn) just across the street.

We noticed a group of families with children gathered at the other side of the barn and the curious me followed suit. I did not know what was going on until I saw the woman beside me busy with her phone camera. She was filming. So I asked her what is going on and she just told me to watch her phone. It was then that I realised that the 2 people from the barn were helping a sheep give birth.

Oh wow! This is the first time for me to see an actual lamb birth =)

The mother sheep who was very cool the whole time gave birth to 2 lambs. She never made any sound, she just laid there on her side on the ground, on the pile of dried grass. I was lucky enough to be able to witness the birth of the 2nd baby lamb. So thankful that the guy helping mother sheep give birth showed us the baby lamb so we can take a good picture of it.

I find the experience so special even though it stunk to the high heavens there, haha.

And I did not know that lambs are born black? Ah, you  learn new things each day I guess. Or are they actually black skinned without their wool?
