Views from the Village of Sainte-Famille in Île d'Orléans | Quebec, Canada Travel
My day trip to Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans is drawing to an end. As I was driving from the village of Saint-Jean to Sainte-Famille, I thought of dropping by a café for a cup of coffee, so I went looking around for one.
But it was a bit difficult to find a nice cafe with a view, however I did manage to drop by a restaurant overlooking the riverside in Sainte-Famille. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good click with the place. It can happen you know. The restaurant has a terrace with beautiful lush views to the riverside of mainland Quebec, but it looked very dejected with nobody sitting in it. I do not think I would enjoy sitting here alone. The restaurant’s indoor setting didn’t really speak to my taste as well.
I am a visual person and ambiance to me is very high up on my list. I am sure I am not the only person who choose cafes, bars and restaurants based on their physical attributes and the atmosphere they create.
Beside the restaurant was a mansion with a huge sprawling green lawn that slopes down to the bushy area before reaching the riverbanks. I was so tempted to just cross over and sit down on one of the wooden lounge chairs. It would be lovely to just sit there watching the view and enjoying the silence. But it’s private property, helaas.
Anyway, I have decided to head back to Quebec City’s old town for my very late afternoon coffee.
Here at Sainte-Famille I also discovered a pumpkin farm. They sell different sorts of pumpkins, ready for picking, but you can also elect to harvest the pumpkin of your choice. Just make sure you have good shoes on and you do not mind taking the wheelbarrow with you.
So this ends my road trip to Île d'Orléans last fall (2015).

Road tripping Île d'Orléans.
This charming tiny chapel is now a boutique gallery.
Rolling fields on mainland Quebec across the Lawrence River.
The terrace of the restaurant in question. It would be nice here if there were people and some music because the views were splendid.
I would have loved to just pick one of these wooden lounge chairs and sit here for hours. Better if there is a strong wifi connection and I can surf online from this chair =)
More views on the other side.
