Utrecht on a Saturday in February

I live in the city and for a local I rarely visit the city centre. Maybe 5 times max in a year? It’s end of April and I have visited twice, so that is some progress. I will probably surpass the 5 times quota this year.

So this Saturday in February was my first visit to the city centre. The Saturday I was here was coincidentally Valentines Day. It was not my intention to visit on this romantic special day but I need to have the soles of my boots done by the shoemaker. Afterwhich I went for a walk and had some coffee and carrot cake at Daen’s. It was a very cold February day so not many people were sitting outside in the outdoor terraces.

Dutchman then called saying he will join me for a drink at our favourite cafe on the Neude Square—Cafe Le Journal. We like going to this cafe every time we are in the city centre because they have a complete array of newspapers and magazines. All free to read =)

I did not have my camera with me so I took these pictures with my iPhone.

This street intersection on the Oudegracht is very busy with outdoor cafe terraces and would be impossible to find an available table when the weather is good.

The Domkerk (St. Martin's Cathedral).

A painting on the street with the Domkerk attached to the Domtoren (Church and Tower attached) and below is the actual. A heavy typhone has destroyed the nave of the church connecting to the choir and altar.

There are many cafe terraces here at the Korte Minrebroederstraat.

Coffee at Daen's and this carrot cake was one of the best ones I have had. I will come back here for sure.

The Oudegracht (Old Canal) in Utrecht.

It is always grey here in the Netherlands, so when the sun shines, everyone literally gets out and bath in the sun.

The store where you can find everything for CHEAP.

Having some sherry here at Cafe Le Journal. Perfect place to read the current events and magazines for free.

Visit Period: February 2016
