10 years ago I did my first solo road trip in Europe outside the Netherlands. I knew exactly what I wanted. I want to start with short and nearby solo road trips. But what really funneled this first road trip project was a combination of curiosity, restlessness and desire to see the world and a picture I saw somewhere of the Mosel river valley in Germany. Burg Eltz is a Harry Potter fairy tale-like ancient castle in the woods of Muden in the Mosel River Valley of Germany. The Mosel river valley is where the famous German white wine – Reisling is cultivated. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I would love to come back! First stop: KOBLENZ The city of Koblenz is 2000 years old and is situated strategically between two great rivers, the Rhine and the Mosel. I would have thought that Koblenz was impressive, and although I enjoyed my time here, it did not really held up to my high expectations. I was brainwashed by what I read on internet forums about how majestic the Rhine River is and that it is a must to take the whole day boat trip (to and fro) from Koblenz all the way down to Bingen.
