Sinarades is said to be a traditional Greek mountain village that hasn’t been corrupted with tourism. In this blurry picture I seem to have zeroed in my focus on this old man with a panama hat and walking with his cane. I quite like this picture. We were just passing through town and I must say that it is indeed quite true. There is a very local vibe. I didn’t see any overly touristy taverna and café terrace on the streets. Except, I saw old men and women gather outside their homes on the streets and chatting with each other. They usually bring a chair and sit outside their house and watch people and vehicles go by. This is the typical afternoon scene in mountain villages in the Greek Islands, and this is the traditional Greece that I have come to know. We came here at Glyfada Beach three times during our summer holiday last yeat in Corfu because it is Dutchman's favourite beach. And everytime we are here we always have the same table.  And we always order the Greek frappes. They are so good. When in the Greek Islands, do order them please. Who would not fall in love with this view? The view from a road curb in Pelekas. Pelekas is a mountain village near the western coast of the island. It’s quite near to the beach, just a few minutes ride for example to Glyfada Beach , Myrtiotissa and Ermones . This is the perfect home base for a summer holiday combining the fresh mountain views and the warmth of the seas. You can have both worlds in Corfu Island. Dutchman and I have passed by Pelekas a few times with our scooter rides and we loved the views of the mountains and valleys here. We saw basins of olive gardens interspersed with plantings of pine trees, and once in a while sightings of charming Corfiot villages crowing the panorama of Pelekas mountain countryside. Glyfada is Dutchman’s favourite beach on Corfu Island. It is a long stretch of sandy beach located on the western side of the island. We’ve been here three times during our holiday and these pictures were taken during our second time there. An afternoon in Glyfada Beach at the Aloha White Restaurant & Bar. This is where Glyfada Beach is on Corfu Island, on the western coast. Kerkira (or Kerkyra) is the capital of Corfu located on the other side of the island. Our favourite spot to chill on Glyfada Beach is at the Aloha White Restaurant & Bar . We loved the lounge chairs and the on-the-beach location. They play cool lounge and DJ music as well. June to early July is not yet high season in Europe so the beaches are usually not that crowded. We like it this way. Which is the reason why we always go on holiday a week or two before peak season starts.
