This taverna has got to be one of the classy and hushed ones in Sami . We found the local taverna on the shore at the end of the commercial harbour, left from the village centre. Dutchman and I always love to dine by the sea during our summer holidays. It is perhaps a recurring theme every time we go out for dinner, unless the restaurant is not located on the waterfront, then it is the view that is important of course. The ambiance and who your company is counts a lot in the enjoyment of your food. We were quite lucky to have arrived on time because we took the last table by the sea. I do not know why but there is a sense of magic and relief when you hear the waves splashing against the shore whilst having dinner and light conversation. For this particular day’s outing in Cephallonia Island (Kefalonia), Dutchman and I were eyeing on Poros , and spending a nice and lazy afternoon on the beach here, and perhaps finishing the day off with a lovely evening dinner in the village square that is facing the beach. Sounds romantic, huh. However, inasmuch as we would love to stay here at Poros longer, the beach town did not really tickle much our fancy. Helaas. Sami is one of the provinces in Kefalonia and its capital town is also called Sami. There is a working port here with passenger ships travelling to nearby islands such as Ithaca and mainland Greece. When we told the owner of the apartment we stayed at in Moussata that we were going to Ithaca Island, she right away said, ‘So you are taking the boat in Sami?’ We told her we are taking part of a private tour and not travelling on our own so we are not going via Sami =) Nevertheless, after our lovely afternoon in Antisamos Beach , we went back to Sami town for dinner. We were here earlier surveying the area, walking along the promenade and dock where the yachts are moored. Most of the yachts anchored here are small yachts.
