Skiathos Island: Traditional Greek Dinner at Platanias Taverna in Agia Paraskevi
This is one of the best tavernas and dinners we have been to in Skiathos Island. The food and service here at Platanias (officially Platanias Venue Restaurant & Lounge Bar) were just incredible. We enjoyed our dinner and evening here very much. We highly recommend this place if holidaying in Skiathos, Greece! Platanias Venue Restaurant & Lounge Bar (aka Platanias Taverna) is located in Agia Paraskevi near the Platanias beach. It is right on the main road on the curve. Like most other local tavernas, the speciality of this establishment is Greek cuisine. We have seen this taverna from the main road on our scooter rides to the south searching for beaches to hang out in the afternoons. Dutchman and I noticed that the restaurant is always full in the evening. It does not matter which day of the week, it is always full. Skiathos Island, Greece: Maratha Beach (Our Favourite!)
Maratha Beach was one of our great finds last summer in Skiathos. This was "our kind of beach". A picture of a very relaxing holiday without having to spend ludicrous amounts of money or having to fly across the globe in search of the sun! The Greek Islands are just around the corner from Western Europe. The beach is down a small path from the main road. We found this beach after checking out a series of beach spots and resorts on the southern coast. Dutchman and I have an exact idea of what “our” beach would look and feel like, so when we saw Maratha Beach, we were like – YEAH! This is it! We were so glad to have found a pair of unoccupied sun loungers. We quickly settled. If we went here during peak season, I am sure it would be impossible to find an available sun lounger, unless we come here really early or very late in the afternoon. A Day at Vromolimnos Beach in Skiathos, Greece
For a small island as Skiathos, it has unbelievably over 60 beaches! But many of the beaches on the island are unorganised beaches and some are even called virgin beaches because they are very difficult to reach. We tried locating a beach we were eyeing in the north but decided to give up when we realised there is no road to get there. One will have to hike. We have not visited all the 60+ beaches, but Dutchman and I have for sure our own favourites. We tend to fall for smaller, cosy and organised beaches that have a cool taverna and a smattering of sunbeds with parasols. Throw in some cool music and we are happy beach campers. On top of our favourite list is Vromolimnos Beach located in the southern part of the island on the corner of Kanapitsa cape.
