It was our first time together to book an all-inclusive holiday stay which means all food and drinks are included in the package price. I’ve had this type of arrangement in the past during my Caribbean trips and honestly for many reasons, we have come up to a decision that we are not going to do this again. Among the reasons are expanding waistlines, missing going to a local restaurant in the evening, enjoying the home-grown food and the native ambiance. International hotel chains just can never replicate the atmosphere of a local hotel and restaurant. We however managed to lunch a few times outside while on a scooter road trip in the island.
This was as well a summer holiday disconnected from the online world.
The hotel’s internet didn’t work. There were Cisco wireless all over the place but the router needs to be reset. Reception explained that the technical person is coming from Athens and it’s not always that easy to come over to the island. How difficult a task is this really that the line is dead for more than a week? Dutchman advised that we place a bet, that the hotel’s internet have been down for weeks, perhaps even months. Adding as well that, this is Greece, what do you expect? They don’t give a freak. Just look at what they have done to the Euro.
I think it is very unfair that some countries can get away with service not working at all (um, among other things). I was meaning to post a few fotos during the holiday and quite excited about it but now my plan is thwarted. Moreover, we had to lug the extra weight of the laptop inside our carry on luggage.
Now, this is where it gets better. What truly surprised us was WE DID NOT missed the internet. Not at all! It was not as bad as we have initially thought and we were able to survive 10 days without it. I guess this is evidence that we are still normal people haha.
I must say that the hotel personnel were very nice and accommodating. Food was good. 4 stars out of 5. Hotel guests were all Europeans including Russians. Interestingly, there were a lot of Italians as well. I will soon post more fotos and short stories about the holiday.
For now, our first day in a few fotos.
