Hello 2012!

To meet 2012 I have the Spanish bubbles—Cava for a change. Last year I had Italian Prosecco, the year before that was French Champagne. Next year, I’ll have to think of another drink from another country.

Of course New Year’s in the Netherlands is not complete without the greasy but yummy oliebollen (deep fried dough balls with raisins).

And the Netherlands is a war zone right now! The Dutch are unbelievably crazy about fireworks. Fireworks E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. It is not safe to go out!

2011 was a year full of exciting happenings for me, in my personal life, on the travels front, as well as for my career. I can pretty much say that I am living the life I want. I am living my dream and I am happy. Every single day I am thankful. But even then, I wish I am retired, spending my days waking up late in the morning, brunching and travelling from time to time.

Let me sum up my 2011 in ONE TRAVEL PHOTO:

My visit to the protected ‘Wadi Rum’ desert in Jordan.

Aaaahhhh.... WADI RUM. The expanse. It’s beauty. So overwhelming. Can you imagine hundreds of years ago that this desert was under the sea? The photo above is a good reminder that we are but a speck of dust on this planet earth.

I wish everyone all the best in 2012. Here’s to many more travels to come! And happy travelling!
