Potsdam: New Chambers and Church of Peace at Sansoucci Park

New Chambers Palace at the Sansoucci Park in Potsdam.

Potsdam is probably the perfect side trip from Berlin. It is an imperial little city oozing with history, majesty and stately architecture. It is where the Royals and the Kaisers once lived. Not very far from Berlin and just less half an hour by car or via a direct connection with the S-Bahn, this city also has a pretty old centrum and is home to the famous Sansoucci Palace and Park.

Sansoucci Park I have to say is a world of its own. If it was up to me to choose what we would do in Potsdam, I would have decided to at least spend half a day here enjoying the baroque gardens, visiting each palace, inspecting and appreciating historical monuments and art on location... and a picnic would be nice as well.

Sadly, the truth is that I was only able to check out 2 buildings, the ‘Church of Peace’ and the ‘New Chambers’. It was a rather quick visit with a Dutchman who was antsy to get back home to the flatlands.

In summary, Sansoucci Park is a must when in Potsdam. The ‘Sansoucci Palace’ is still the masterpiece of this great lovely park. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the time to drop by and see it. It leaves me with the comfort though that Potsdam won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon.

So here are the pictures!
