Some Random Karpathos Scenery Photos

Just some random photos we took during our first scooter ride on the island.

Driving around with the scooter gives us a sense of freedom and being one with nature and the island. It is the perfect way to discover a not-so-large island. The ride took us from Pigadia, the town capital of Karpathos to the southern part of the island near the airport.

We visited Afiartis Beach, famous for windsurfing.

Still with the helmet on, just a quick stop. It was so darn hot, luckily it was very windy.

There is Kite Beach for kitesurfing. It is very windy in Karpathos!

There is a resident taverna on Kite Beach.

Typical Karpathos landscape, somewhat desert-like.

Somewhere near Agios Ioannis-Limnionas-Mola-Skala we saw these non-functioning modern-type windmills. They have rusted.

Free-range goats and sheep (below) everywhere.

The Amoopi Bay. A very popular spot on the island.

Accommodations in Amoopi Bay.

Pera Ammos Beach in Amoopi.

Little Amoopi Beach in Amoopi.

Driving around with the scooter with your typical Greek scenery of rugged shorelines and white chapels with blue domes.

The roads in Karpathos were not busy at all. We visited a few more beaches and I cannot remember their names anymore.

A nice taverna on a beach I forgot the name.
