In Kuala Lumpur (KLCC): Petronas Twin Towers, Lake Symphony Fountain and Nasi Lemak Dinner at the Dome

KLCC means Kuala Lumpur City Centre and this is where the beautiful and shimmering Petronas Tower stands in the middle. The Petronas Towers are really the main attraction of Kuala Lumpur, and rightly so because it is a beautiful piece of modern and intelligent building. Such a pretty sight! She will really make you go and say, WOW.

KLCC Lake Symphony Fountain

In the evening there are fountain shows on the man-made 10,000 square metre KLCC lake located in front of the towers. KLCC is nestled snugly in the business district of Kuala Lumpur.

The Traders Hotel where we had drinks at the Sky Bar is just across. Read the entry here: Best View in Kuala Lumpur at the Sky Bar Traders Hotel

My parents here. I got carried away with taking pictures of everything around me (so typical, haha) that I forgot to take a picture of myself =)

It is very busy here with many tourists from Arabic countries.

I took a quick video of the Lake Fountain Show, the KLCC grounds and the Petronas Twin Towers:

This is I believe the third Symphony Fountain show I have seen. The other two were located in two different continents. At the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and the Dubai Fountain at the base of Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE. Read here: Bellagio Musical and Dancing Fountains in Las Vegas. I still have to post my Dubai Fountain Burj Khalifa entry!

The most impressive so far was Las Vegas (click on the link above), whilst the biggest fountain was for sure the superlative Dubai where I got totally soaked =(

Dinner at the Dome in Suria KLCC: I love Nasi Lemak! (Malaysia’s National Dish)
Websites: Suria KLCC  |  Dome Cafe Malaysia

I can perhaps say that this is the epitome of South East Asian food. The beef is so tasty and soft, it will almost melt in your mouth but because it is soooo spicy you might want to handle it with care.

The dinner at the Dome was not planned but it was the nearest restaurant we could find that has a Malaysian dish in the menu. My parents don’t mind eating something else but I really want to stick to my Malaysian theme and I found out that Dome Cafe offers the national dish: Nasi Lemak!

Nasi Lemak is a rice dish traditionally served in a platter of small side dishes such as cucumber slices, small fried anchovies, roasted peanuts, hardboiled egg, hot spicy sauce called sambal and beef rendang (beef stewed in infused coconut milk and hot spices). For my platter they added fried prawn crackers.

We took a table outside at the open terrace facing the KLCC lake and park because inside the restaurant the airconditioning was freezing!

My mom’s: Grilled Chicken in Tumeric Sauce. Thai-style marinated grilled chicken breast served with a creamy tumeric sauce, buttered rice and sautéed vegetables.

My Dad’s: Beef Lasagne. Premium beef, chunky tomato, lashings of béchamel sauce and melted cheese. Served with garden salad.

Mine is the local specialty: Ah, I am craving for some Nasi Lemak =)

My review rating: 4.1 stars out of 5!

Suria KLCC on the other hand is the shopping centre at the base of the Petronas Towers, and very typical of any mall in Asia, the inside of this shopping centre is super cold! Arctic conditions. In order to survive, you  might need a light sweater or a scarf =)

She will make you say WOW…

For those interested, the ‘Sky Bridge’ and ‘Observation Deck’ are the two main attractions in the Petronas Twin Towers. The parents are not into heights so we didn’t go up. We just admired her beauty from the outside on the KLCC grounds. I think that is enough.

The Petronas is designed following the Islamic patterns and these can be seen through the neat geometric lines and twin towers dome-style pillars and their piercing apexes resembling like minarets.

The architectural lines are so clean…
