Work to Live: Most Number of Vacation Days in Europe
In Europe the theme is all about working to live and not the other way around.
Actually, by law, the Netherlands have 25 paid holiday leaves (5 weeks) per year for a full-time job. Perhaps with Dutch companies they give more days but most international companies tend to only give 25 days. Still, not that bad but the Finnish and the French are definitely the winners here.
I must say that the quality of life is really good here in Europe. The focus is about living life and enjoying it. People here are encouraged to spend time with their families and for themselves by employers -- many employers does not allow cashing in the holidays, one must take the needed days off. Ah, the ultimate European mentality or European dream, balancing personal life and work. I really like this traditional side of Europe and I hope it stays this way, especially now that I am older, I must admit that I do get tired of the rat race, which is one of the reasons why I always try to escape from time to time.
Looking forward to these escape breaks has kept me sane from the high stress levels to perform in my job, and speaking of which, I just booked yesterday my upcoming short holiday trips to England and Spain, and I have Jordan to get excited about in a few weeks as well.
All I can say -- We must live life to the fullest, when and while we can.
