Photo Essay of Gaios Town in Paxos Island (Greece)

The capital of Paxos Island (Greece) is Gaois. It is a pretty town with a busy harbour (when there are boats anchored on day trips) lined with cafe terraces, shops and restaurants.

The island is small so its best to stay here for just a few days unless your idea of holiday is going slow, less sightseeing and not doing much. A day trip is just as perfect.

The little island is just below Corfu and quite near to mainland Greece.

The port of Gaios is formed like a horse shoe. This picture is taken from the other side of the harbour.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
