Yes, you heard it right. I missed my flight to Riga, Latvia. Bummer. The next direct flight to Riga is on Friday (same airline, WizzAir). There is another direct flight to Riga via Amsterdam but that is on a Wednesday (with AirBaltic). These two airlines are the only ones offering direct flights this week. The rest of the flights are spread out throughout the week and will take 17 hours to reach Riga (it is only a 2 hour flight!) because Riga unfortunately is not your everyday destination. With a heavy heart, I have cancelled my Latvia and Lithuania trips. At first I could not forgive myself why I let this slip up. Moneywise, I have already booked my hotels (they are non-refundable and are not cheap, they are 4 stars) thus I have lost quite a sum but I consoled myself that it is just money, it is not the end of the world. This was a lunch at Eetcafe de Verlenging in the Philips (PSV) Stadium in Eindhoven, a very popular place for business people to lunch. What we ordered: Club sandwich ‘De Verlenging’. One of the prettiest club sandwiches I have ever seen. Salade tonijn (tuna salad). Presentation needs to be better (alright, this is the Netherlands so its expected) as you hardly see the tuna hiding under the zeekraal (samphire or sea asparagus, they are like sea weeds) but this was really, really, really good. I lunched at this same restaurant a year ago. The 35,000-seater Philips Stadium (Philips Stadion in Dutch) is the home base of PSV Eindhoven football team. You might wonder why the stadium is called Philips? The headquarters of electronics consumer goods, lighting and medical machinery producer, Philips, is located in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Eindhoven is also dubbed by the locals as the ‘city of light’, because of Philips. Official website: Philips Stadion I 'm sure, this is the best area when there is a game. A relaxed cafe seating with some beers while cheering for PSV or your favourite football team. I had a salad with smoked salmon and deep-fried buttered shrimps. I was here at the Philips Stadium last month for lunch. I gave my business partner the flexibility to choose the restaurant and I wasn’t really expecting much but was hoping he will chose something nice and unique. I always go to Eindhoven for work (1.5 hours drive from Amsterdam). Just this week I was there twice. My business partners are usually located in the industrial areas and because I am there for work I rarely discover the nice places, like the city centre for example. Just recently I needed to buy a gift for the brother-in-law who celebrated his 51st birthday so that's an opportunity to swing by at the Bijenkorf in Eindhoven city centre. Luckily, the department store closes at 18:30. So that is how I came to know the address PIAZZA. Bijenkorf Eindhoven is located on Piazza 1, just on the corner. It is the green building, and there is parking nearby. Parking rates are much better than in Utrecht and Amsterdam. The store is quite big, and I was really impressed with the collection of brands here at the Eindhoven branch. It is much better than Utrecht. They have a big collection from MaxMara! I was so tempted to buy but I didn't have time as I still have to attend the bro...

Last Friday I was in Eindhoven (south of the Netherlands about 120KM fromAmsterdam) having a little kick-off with my partner. I managed to get my messageacross during my presentation and the food was a success. We had Spanish tapas and booze. Since I am in the Noord Brabant region which is where Eindhoven is and where Bavaria beer comes from, I had to say no to wine and drank the local beer. Firstly, I had the normal Bavaria beer, then for my second bottle I tried the 0%alcohol Bavaria wit beer. I was curious of course. One thing I know: It may be the beer for Hugh Hefner and his old comrades (the TV advert of this beer) but IT’S NOT FOR ME. It tastes funny. After the kick-off party, I didn’t realized that I was carrying with me a very strong garlic accent. Blame the gambas al ajillo, cooked in oil and garlic! The gambas were literally swimming in ground garlic but it was sooooo yummy, I came back for a 2nd serving. Thus the consequence: When I got home in the evening ...
