Lunch in Rapperswil, Switzerland
Rapperswil is a picturesque town in St. Gallen, Switzerland, about 50 minutes by train (or less by car) east of Zurich. The town lies on Zurichsee and has a beautiful lakeside promenade, the Fischmarktplatz, which I am sure would be busy and lovely during summer.
The main attraction is the (Schloss) Rapperswil Castle as seen on the foto above, my only souvenir of the place which is also known as Rapperswil-Jona. The town seems to be a favourite side trip for tourists visiting Zurich, it is also nicknamed as Rose City because of its beautiful rose gardens.
Well, I had a nice chance to visit the town yesterday, but only for lunch. Our host showered us with Swiss hospitality and booked a table at an Italian restaurant called dieci Ristorante 1. Stock on the lake promenade. The lunch was excellent. Really lekker! For starters I had fresh tuna and for the main course, a plate of mix seafood: salmon, shrimp and a white fresh water fish sort (can’t remember what it was, maybe pike) fished out from Lake Zurich itself, and a ball of green salad leaves.
And because I was with business company, I was too shy to take fotos of the food. Presentation was awesome, I almost did not want to touch my plate because it’s just picture perfect, while all the time I was thinking—should I flip out my camera and take a foto? But I was so embarrassed to do it in front of my customer.
You know, there are only a few circumstances when I am reluctant to take pictures of my food. It’s when I am dining with customers/business partners and when I am surrounded with really chic diners, for example in a Michelin star or exclusive restaurant where it’s just so awkward to (oh forbid) snap a foto of what you are eating. I am sure some of you can relate.

Rapperswil Altstadt, in the middle of the foto you can see the castle. Switzerland officially has 4 languages: German, French, Italian and Rumantsch, now add English there as well as another unofficial language for business and tourism.
