Worse dinner that ends with a lovely nightcap in Molyvos (Mithymna)
Such as the title, this was the worse dinner we’ve ever had in Lesvos, Greece. Luckily, we were able to finish the evening with a lovely nightcap before riding off with the scooter back to our holiday apartment in Anaxos and calling it a night.
Dinner at Restaurant O Gatos
We had dinner at this really cool-looking restaurant with an open-roof that must have commanded beautiful views of the surrounding environs and the sea during the day. However, it was late in the evening so there was really no view to enjoy but the outdoor and airy setting was very refreshing. They have a roof deck as well but it was quite full up there so we settled at the balcony just below, which happens to also have an open rooftop.
The ambiance of Restaurant o Gatos in Mithymna (previously known as Molyvos or Molivos) was what really attracted us to the place. Just look at that open roof!
Dutchman and I ordered a Ceasar salad, octopus in vinegar oil and spring rolls. It’s a Mediterranean and Asian mix dinner. The Ceasar salad was too mayonnaisey (is there such a word?). The octopus in vinegar oil tasted like it came out straight from the can and they just added olive oil and herbs. The spring rolls were mediocre as well, I didn’t even manage to eat a whole piece.
From our table we could see another restaurant with its balcony hanging from the city’s rock walls (see below picture). We had lunch at this restaurant a few days earlier. Read about it here: Mithymna lunch with a view and yummy Grilled Octopus and Aubergine Salad
This is cute!
This is the alley outside the restaurant where we found these two gorgeous residents:
Coffee and cocktails at Beer Pirates Bar & Cafe
The evening was saved when we went to the Beer Pirate’s Bar & Café. We first had coffee of course. Greek coffee for myself and capuccino for the Dutchman.
Then we had some cocktails for our nightcap plus some people watching. I ordered a caipirinha (a Brazilian drink) and Dutchman a tonic. Why is it that people watching is such a relaxing activity?
It was a lovely laid back evening. Dutchman and I really enjoyed our time here at the Beer Pirates Cafe.
I am now missing the summer holidays but we are not planning anything yet because there will be several trips in between before the real summer holiday vacation begins.
