A Sheltered City Beach in Kerkyra, Corfu: Faliraki Beach

This is I think the only city beach Kerkyra really has which is quite hidden behind the fortification walls of Old Corfu City.

I first saw this beach whilst walking on the ramparts of Palace Agion Michail ke Antoniou, located north to the Liston Square (the Spianada). From here I saw the discreetly situated Faliraki Beach with its lone taverna sticking out of the tip of the pavement’s beach.

It remains to be a very for-the-locals type of beach because most of the holidaymakers who come to the capital city often prefer to do city stuff things than beaching. It is also quite small in size and a bit concealed, far away from the maddening crowds that visit the city daily.

Not a bad place at all if you were to ask me. It has a resident taverna, a stunning view to the old fortress of Corfu and charmingly quiet.

This is a great place to have a quick out-of-the-city feel, a brief swim, maybe a seaside lunch with a view and perhaps, to watch the sun sets down over the horizon. Now that is romantic.

See Faliraki on the map, located on the northern tip of Kerkyra.

The waters are turquoise blue clear.
