Zen in Bologna, Italy

The place I am staying here in Bologna is soooo ZEN! Totally relaxing.

The house is perched on a little hilly valley and from a distance I could see the city of Bologna. It is beautiful here. As I write right now I can see the far away lights of the city flickering from my window and I can hear the birds chirping outside as well. The birds seem to chirp the whole time here even if it is late in the evening.

There is a very countryside feeling to this place, yet so near to busy civilisation. It is just 12 kilometres to the city centre, which is about 20 minutes or less depending on the traffic.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Medjugorje or Medugorje is a world-famous Catholic pilgrimage site due to the Our Lady of Medjugorje, who claimed to have seen a series of apparitions of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, to 6 Bosnian children at  Križevac Hill .

Walking Discoveries and Map of Porto Centre

Porto is a lovely, old and rough-hewn city and I have very much enjoyed my visit here last March. The city centre is easily walkable which I adore. I am a great fan of walking. Walking is actually what I do best when travelling, I walk from one square to attraction to another, and it is no secret that I indulge in food, thus after sampling different types of local delicacies, it makes me feel good that those calories are going somewhere else other than to my (bulging) stomach and (flabby) arms. However, if you are mobility challenged, there are the old world trams and modern sightseeing buses to bring you around.
