Lefkada, Greece: The Beach in Nydri
Although we stayed in Nydri, we have only been to the town’s beach once. Yes, once.
The reason why we went here once only was because we do not find it attractive enough. It is a pretty busy and touristy beach as well located beside the equally busy harbour and promenade. It is not a huge beach but it has all the amenities and facilities a usual tourist beach resort has complete with water sports activities and boat rentals. Family friendly too.
Dutchman and I prefer a more scenic and low-key beach though.
On a more positive side, the waters here are very calm, and the beach shore is shallow as well athough it can get deep easily. The beach also has lovely views to islets, Heloni, Sparti, Scorpidi, Madouri and Scorpios which is Onassis' island that has been sold to a Russian oligarch. And of course it is near our hotel but this isn’t really a hurdle for us because we would go halfway across the island just to go to a nice beach.
But helaas, like I said, this is really not our beach. You can say we are very picky with our choice of beaches, but this is what the Greek Islands do to you. You become picky because the islands taught us that there are more stunning bays and stretches of beaches out there. It just so happen that this one is not.
Most of these photos were taken late in the afternoon when the sun was low and golden. Our favourite time of the day, especially in the beach when most beach goers have left already.

Nydri Beach at the end of the day.
These were taken on a different day though in the morning, from the boat.
The beach is very popular with families.
A sandbar and this part of the water flows to a creek into town.
The beach has views to the nearby islands including Scorpios, Onassis' Island now owned by a Russian oligarch.
On Nydri Beach you can also find beach front restaurants.
