Ho Chi Minh City: Delicious Vietnamese Dinner at Chao Em! Viet Bistro

We discovered this lovely bistro-restaurant purely by accident one evening when we were looking around the area of Ben Thanh for a place to eat.

We didn’t want to go somewhere else and we just wanted to eat in the area near the hotel.

By the way, I am totally rocking Vietnamese food... really loving this refreshing and healthy cuisine, maybe because of its prime adoption of vegetables as a main ingredient and garnishing. This is my kind of food!

Each table at Chao Em! Viet Bistro has this set of spices and sauces in porcelain wares.

We just finished watching the Water Puppet Show at the Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theatre and I managed to convince my parents that instead of taking the cab back to our hotel (it really is just around the corner), we will walk a bit and check out some places to eat along the way. My mum is mobility challenged so she cannot walk that far and we have to always consider this when we are travelling together.

Just a block before reaching the corner of Ben Thanh market, which is already near our hotel, we chanced upon Chao Em! Viet Bistro.

To be honest, the façade of the bistro-restaurant wasn’t that inviting, but we didn’t want to search and walk further anymore, although we knew that a few metres ahead we can find many cafes and restaurants surrounding the Ben Thanh market area. The parents were too tired from walking already and they want to sit down. And oh I am so glad we settled here, this was one of the very good places with delicious food we have eaten at! It was a good choice, a good shot of luck.

This is our dinner:

Delicious, we managed to order 2 of this!

We ordered this vegetable + meat stir fry noodles which were so good, so we ordered TWO and we licked them all clean. One of the best we have eaten so far. The sauce was very delicious.

SisterJ wanted to try their spicy chicken wings and she swore that they were very tasty. I am not sure anymore if I can recall trying it but by the looks of it in the picture below, I can only say it is making me crave for a piece of it!

The sister cannot say no to spicy chicken wings.

The Bun Cha is my favourite. *drools*

Grilled pork patties with a green salad, rice noodles and dipping sauce. You wrap together the pork patties, rice noodles and mint leaves with the lettuce leaf and dip it into the sauce and eat it. I was so tempted to order another serving but my expanding waistline has me worried so I employed some self control.

Fresh and yummy Bun Cha.

Where to find Chao Em! Viet Bistro:

This is our route from our hotel (Avanti Hotel) in Ben Thanh to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theatre which we took with the cab, and from there we walked to Chao Em! Viet Bistro for dinner.
