Goodbye Punta Cana Sunshine, Hello Snowy Tirol!

I’m just back from the Caribbean, from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Stayed in a 5-star resort with an all inclusive plan.

Quite a luxurious and wicked indulgence getaway indeed for the Global Sales Team. To kick off the business in 2009, the powers-that-be sure know how to tease us a bit and get us in the groove... while for the rest of the year we will be whipped like a (worn-out) horse on the treadmill. Heh, that is reality in sales.


I am the only girl in the team, which sometimes has its own advantages =)


Well, honestly, I am so glad to be back in the real world. I don’t think I can handle too much of the savoury and unhealthy food at the resort. Too much and too many wrong gastronomic temptations.. They only make my belly grow to wild proportions! Now I am back to my exercises, back to meager eating, and back to healthy eating. I think I am more happy with this.

Nevertheless, I will make a separate entry later on about this Caribbean trip because I will be off again on the road. I haven’t unpacked my luggage yet and now I need to pack again before the weekend ends! This time we are going to the cold Alpine Mountains to ski. After the sunshine and warm beach in Punta Cana, welcome to cold and snowy Tirol Alps.

Now I am faced with a silly dilemma – should I buy a new wintersport jacket or just settle with what I have now which I really find boring? Time is ticking away and I only have a few days left to decide and buy. I know, such a trivial dilemma but I am a woman.

What I do know is that I am so very looking forward to the long drive to Austria. I love long drives; with new age and lounge music in the background and a Dutchman sleeping soundly beside me.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
