Mussels lunch in Brussels

Blondine and I met up with my friends (Herr Philippe and Trois) who were coincidentally spending their weekend in Brussels as well. We had lunch in Beenhouwersstraat (Rue des Bourchers) in Le Bourgeois restaurant and I ordered my usual Brussels’ treat—mussels.



Le Bourgeois - we picked this restaurant randomly because it was in a nice corner location, it looked pretty as well from the outside and they have a table for 4 available on the terrace.



A very Belgian-Brussels lunch: Mussels. I chose the normal version, spices, leeks and water.

Time stands still when you are having fun and when you are with great company until it was time to say 'tot de volgende keer'. Thanks Philippe!

The Beenhouwersstraat (Rue des Bourchers) can be accessed from the Koninklijke Sint-Hubertusgalerijen (Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert). I discovered this charming street filled with cafe restaurants years back when I first visited Brussels. It’s very touristy but a lovely and lively place you cannot resist to sit in, eat and people watch.

We didn’t really have time to people watch. 4 was already a hectic company to handle.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
