Pee! Pee! in Brussels

Quite busy with many things right now as well as jumping into the “Orange Fever” bandwagon here in the Netherlands after the Dutch team won against Denmark (2-0) last Monday (and the Bavaria orange girls arrested--Budweiser, the official beer sponsor filed a complaint against FIFA, this is not just football war but beer war)! I am finding myself dating the telly more and watching the Football World Championships in South Africa every night.

So many stories to tell about my recent travels but for now I leave you with a pee pee foto taken in Brussels last month.

By the way, the Belgians went to the polls last weekend. Let’s hope that amidst the Dutch-French language feud between the Flanders and the Walloons, this time they can form a government coalition without difficulty because the last time it took them almost a year after which it only collapsed, in 2008 and early this year as well.

In a recent survey, it says that 2 out of 3 French are ready to adopt Wallonia back to France, if ever the country splits. Story here in Dutch: French ready to adopt Wallonia


Flanders on the other hand used to belong to the Netherlands before the Antwerp revolt but I don’t think the Flemish want to be annexed to the Netherlands however the Dutch I am sure would not mind as it will only strengthen both economies. It’s all about the money you know.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Medjugorje or Medugorje is a world-famous Catholic pilgrimage site due to the Our Lady of Medjugorje, who claimed to have seen a series of apparitions of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, to 6 Bosnian children at  Križevac Hill .

Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
