Chilling out in Schiphol and Good Evening Sweden!

Chilling out here at the Het Paleis Grand Cafe in Schiphol Amsterdam Airport with a shot of whisky, my usual drink before a flight. I don't really find this bar gezellig but it was the nearest one from my gate so not much choice really.

And now, we are boarding...


The KLM pilot was having a good evening. He was greeting every passenger at the door. And so was one of the KLM stewardesses, I caught her singing. Flying is not my favourite part of travelling so hats off to them.

Finally, good evening Sweden!

Landed at Arlanda Airport which I am afraid to say is not really that impressive but OK. The cabs were waiting outside and you can just pick any of your choice which was strange to me as I am used to the queueing system. So you can pick the nicest taxi or the good looking driver =)

The drive from the airport to Stockholm is about half an hour. While on the highway we were overtaken by 3 cars at breakneck speed, 2 on our left and 1 on our right. I felt the cab lifting a bit as they swooshed by. Drag racing. Crazy people. Welcome to Sweden.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Medjugorje or Medugorje is a world-famous Catholic pilgrimage site due to the Our Lady of Medjugorje, who claimed to have seen a series of apparitions of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, to 6 Bosnian children at  Križevac Hill .

Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
