Stockholm Sites: Views to Södra Blasieholmshamnen
My next agenda for the day is to visit the Old Town—Gamla Stan so I cross the bridge (Strombron) from Ostermalms District and I could not help but stop halfway of the journey to admire the beautiful views to Södra Blasieholmshamnen.
The most popular resident of Södra Blasieholmshamnen is none other than the Stockholm National Museum. She is very impressive and very elegant.
From the bridge where I stood there is a boulevard that connects to Gamla Stan Island and Strombron (the bridge) with a platform that juts out of the water. It´s a nice place to sit down here for a picnic or just to admire the lovely views to Södra Blasieholmshamnen. I joined the rest of the people and sat down for a bit. No need to hurry to Gamla Stan. It will not go away unless a gigantic meteor will swallow up the city. That´s not going to happen I thought.
The lavish Grand Hotel Stockholm home to the Veranda Restaurant that offers the famous classic Swedish smörgåsbord (Swedish buffet) and beautiful views to the Royal Palace and Gamla Stan is also located on Södra Blasieholmshamnen. I didn´t know about this restaurant but now that I know I have another reason to come back. My other reason is to shop and check out the local Swedish fashion designers.
Oh, I want to eat at the Operakallaren as well which is just across the Grand Hotel. Or maybe watch an Opera (not so fond of this though) at the Royal Opera House and afterwards check out their Cocktail Bar? Why, so many things I want!
Swedish National Museum -- I was not able to check this out so I guess another reason to visit Stockholm. I saw fotos of the interiors of the museum and it is very impressive.
The traditional Swedish Smorgasbord in the Veranda Restaurant of Grand Hotel Stockholm. I will be back to try this! The Grand Hotel is the beige building with the moss green coloured roof that has a Swedish flag flying on top.

Brightly coloured Jacobs kyrka (St. James Church) which is located beside the Royal Swedish Opera House and Operakallaren, an exquisite restaurant (it has 4 restaurants, a cocktail bar and wine cellar) that I want to try next time I visit.
The men had to help her get on top of the horse =). Nice pose though.
They have flat-bottomed boats just like in Amsterdam. The reason why flat-bottomed boats are popular in Amsterdam is because of the canal bridges. Flat boats can easily pass through it. Not sure what is the reason why they are used in Stockholm.
