Agios Sostis Islet in Zakynthos

The Agios Sostis islet used to be connected to the main island of Zakynthos (Greece) until an earthquake separated them from each other. Nowadays, a wooden bridge connects the little island to Zakynthos.

I never set foot on the island though. I have heard that it’s a nice place with beautiful caves but we only passed by and I had a quick souvenir foto shoot on the bridge.

The Agios Sostis is located in the cove of Laganas Bay at the southernmost tip. It’s actually a much charming area than the main Laganas Beach.

This is actually a candid shot. I was walking back to the mainland and holding the hat firmly with my two hands from being blown away with the wind =)

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Medjugorje or Medugorje is a world-famous Catholic pilgrimage site due to the Our Lady of Medjugorje, who claimed to have seen a series of apparitions of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, to 6 Bosnian children at  Križevac Hill .

Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
