Octopus lunch in Harbour Tavern on Agios Sostis beach, Laganas Bay
It was already past 3PM and Dutchman and I haven’t had lunch yet. We are tremendously enjoying this unknown rock beach here in Zakynthos Island (Greece) that we totally forgot the time. Which, in my opinion, is what a holiday should be. Forgetting time.

But then our stomachs were grumbling. We decided that the terrace by the little clearing where we parked the scooter is not going to be it so we climbed on our ride to search for a nice restaurant. We drove down to Laganas Bay and came upon Agios Sostis, the southernmost part of the bay. The place has more charm than the main Laganas Beach several hundred metres away.
Dutchman was not really enthusiastic after seeing the commercialised beach. He wants to dine in a special place, but on the corner of my eye I saw some taverns on stilts on the beach. We proceeded to check it out and chose to go for the Harbour Tavern because it looks nice, romantic and unique.
The tavern sits on the second floor with a beautiful view to the beach. It is an open air terrace actually that is crowned with grapevine trellises. I love the fact that the grapevine trellis actually has grapevines crawling on it with grapes hanging from it as well. The ambience is so charming and when I look to the beach, it makes me want to sit there for the rest of the day.
The food arrived! I ordered grilled octopus while the Dutchman stuck to his pasta. This is one of my favourite (late) lunches during our Greek holiday. Light delectable lunch yet filling. Lovely views and cosy ambience. Some wine of course. Conversations. Dutchman and I can talk about so many things, from serious topics such as politics and the existence of man to silly discussions such as--did you see that girl with massive frontal ammunitions? I am glad I have him as my BFF as well =)
It was almost 17:00 when we left the restaurant.
It feels great to break the rules from time to time, especially when you are on holiday. Not looking at the time. Not eating during the right (lunch) hour. Letting go. Relaxing. Enjoying. Just going with the flow. Living with the moment.
