Cafe with a View in Tallinn: Kohvik Komeet and Shopping at Solaris

If you have been following my travel diaries, one of the things quite predictable with me is spotting for that restaurant, bar or cafe with a view. In Tallinn, I found this cafe called Kohvik Komeet located just outside, a stone’s throw away from the southern part of Tallinn Old Town with the perfect view to the Estonian National Theater where I watched a ballet show called La Bayadere one evening.

I found this cafe through my online researches. There is also another place that has sweeping panoramic views of Tallinn, at the Lounge 24 in Radisson Hotel, however, since the cafe restaurant was located outside the old town and I had such a hectic schedule juggling many things to see and do, and I need my slow time as well, I was not able to make it there. But you never know, next time can be calling so I am mentioning it here.

Nevertheless, I did a little bit of shopping at the Solaris Shopping Mall which is where the cafe is located and afterwards had some coffee relaxation at Cafe Komeet.

Kohvik means cafe =) and my review with pictures:

Kohvik Komeet is probably one of the popular places to go in Tallinn, this cafe is located on top of the Solaris Shopping Mall. They serve drinks, snacks and light lunch, cafe style (this is not a restaurant).

The cafe also has two seating areas, the main cafe area and the rooftop terrace. You will have to take the lift to the rooftop. There you can enjoy the fresh open-air and beautiful views, but this is only open during late spring, summer and early autumn, of course when it is good weather.

They serve different kinds of tart and cakes. Not being the sweet-toothed type, I bypassed these. 

The design of the cafe is eclectic, an artistic combination of styles, i.e. country, modern contemporary, period style.

I first had a table away from the window. This cafe can get very busy.

When this table was vacated, I right away took the place. Nice view to the Estonian National Theater. This is one of my relaxing times in Tallinn.

Kohvik Komeet Rooftop Terrace

I also went up to check out the rooftop terrace. I did this before I had coffee at the main cafe because I want to choose the place that best suits my mood at the time. It is nice here as well, lots of sun with views to Tallinn Old Town, but down at the main cafe it is much cosier =). I guess it has something to do with the time of the day. The rooftop terrace would be great for sunset before dinner drinks.

I am sure this is a great place in the evening during summer for drinks with friends.

The Solaris Shopping Centre is a relatively good sized mall. They have many shoe shops here! They also seem to sell many good quality local brands, as well as foreign European brands.

I couldn’t control myself and bought two pairs of shoes (a local and German brand), a lovely skirt (French brand) and a few other accessories. I am a woman after all.
