Morning Jog and Sightseeing around Rovinj (Croatia) and the Little Farmer's Market

I think this was the last jogging I did. I have since stopped because I realised jogging is not really healthy for me. It’s not good for my bones but I will spare you the TMI details.

So I woke up early and took my trainers to the cobbled stone streets of Rovinj. I was the lone person jogging around town that morning. The idyllic commune is just waking up to another day. As I ambled along the harbour promenade, I noticed few early risers already on the go, perhaps going to their work or meeting someone.

I decided to go to the topmost part of Rovinj where the church is located. Running past stone houses I can clearly see that people live here. It’s not just a touristic town for the show, local Istrian Croatians live here and bring on their daily lives in this town. When I reached the top, I headed to the church and checked the doors. They were locked so I just focused my attention to the surrounding views. The waters are deep blue down below and I am sure summers here are divine.

As I run back down to the centre of town, I came across a little farmer’s market. This is located near the little park promenade at the other side of town from the harbour. I lingered a bit inspecting the produce and fishes on sale. I am always curious what people eat in other countries. Are you?

After an hour and a half or so I decided to go back to the hotel and heading straight to the buffet restaurant for my breakfast. I have a long day ahead of me and I will be visiting nearby lovely towns and villages.

TRIVIA: Did you know that from Venice they offer day trips to Rovinj? I guess you will have to search for it as it is not advertised widely in the city. It is vice versa for Rovinj, they offer day trips to Venice, Italy. Venice is located at the other side of the Adriatic Sea.

These guys were working (quite early), fixing the cobble stone streets near the church and perhaps going down to town to do some errands.

Croatia is a religious country. Many Roman Catholics here, about 86+%.

This is at the main square on the harbour front. It can get very busy here during the day when it is lovely weather.

In Croatia it is very interesting to notice how they sell their greens and leafy vegetables. They do not sell them by it’s original bunch, they sell them plucked off from it’s bunch. And they looked like they were cleaned as well.

Here at the market, a few cafe restaurants were open very early.

The market place is I think the designated farmer’s market location in Rovinj because the stalls were fixed on this square.

Resting a bit while enjoying the view. I did jog but I think I took too many pictures to say that I went out to jog. It was more like I went out to sightsee and take pictures.
