Last Day in Rovinj, Croatia

Did I tell you that Rovinj is the secret of many Croatians? It is dubbed by locals as the Little Pearl of the Adriatic. I can definitely understand why.

On my last day in Rovinj, I woke up to blue skies smiling down at me from my hotel room which has a balcony with glass doors and a spectacular view to Rovinj. Yes, straight from my bed. I stayed at this modern resort hotel along the harbour because of the view really.

So after breakfast I spent the morning walking around town and enjoying my last moments with the beautiful little pearl of the Adriatic Sea.

Because it was  a promising lovely weather day, locals were out and about, and a few tourists were early out as well. Many Italians come over to Rovinj I noticed. It's just across the Adriatic Sea and via Trieste by land; very near yet a whole different country altogether.

I also made sure to buy some postcards and stamps. Afterwhich I sat down at the popular terrace along the harbour and had coffee and some people watching while writing the postcards. I always send postcards to my parents and my in-laws.

Fishermen on the Rovinj harbour working their nets. Some of their fresh catch of the day were displayed for sale and I saw a few locals walk up to the boat and bought some fish.

People were up and about on the streets quite early. Shops were not even open yet.

This is the main shopping street of Rovinj. It can get busy here with day tourists.

Everyone has to do laundry I suppose.

I like this intersection part of the town, you arrive here to a small square facing a cafe restaurant terrace that bridges to a few other intersecting streets that is not shown on the picture.

The Adriatic Hotel on the harbour and in front of the square fountain has a nice cafeteria with an outdoor terrace that is open throughout the year even during winter.

I took a table at Adriatic Hotel's outdoor cafe terrace, ordered coffee and wrote the postcards. It was a lovely day and I was not ready to leave Rovinj yet, but helaas I must. I am moving on to my next destination which is Slovenia, the bordering country in the north.

The sun shining as you can see. The day before this we had grey skies and some showers, so I am quite thankful that my last day had lovely weather.
