Corfu, Greece: Another Day at Glyfada Beach
Glyfada is Dutchman’s favourite beach on Corfu Island. It is a long stretch of sandy beach located on the western side of the island. We’ve been here three times during our holiday and these pictures were taken during our second time there.
This is where Glyfada Beach is on Corfu Island, on the western coast. Kerkira (or Kerkyra) is the capital of Corfu located on the other side of the island.
Our favourite spot to chill on Glyfada Beach is at the Aloha White Restaurant & Bar. We loved the lounge chairs and the on-the-beach location. They play cool lounge and DJ music as well. June to early July is not yet high season in Europe so the beaches are usually not that crowded. We like it this way. Which is the reason why we always go on holiday a week or two before peak season starts. Not only are prices lower, we have some peace as well =)
At Aloha White, we first had a little snack of club sandwich and fries. And of course we ordered the famous Greek coffee frappes. They are a must try when visiting the Greek Isles. The Dutchman himself is hooked to this drink.
After having our fill, it’s siesta and beach time. I was eyeing the lounge beds on the beach and wondered if it’s going to cost us extra. So I asked the wait staff if we can use it for free. The guy told me it’s okay since we were customers. No extra charge. We like that. Now it is time to lay back and relax. It is finally siesta time! But wait, not before a dip in the water is in order.
When holidaying, Dutchman and I always look at ways on stretching our Euro. We make sure we get our money’s full value, because let’s admit it, we need money to enjoy things in life. And if you are wise with it, you can enjoy more when you have stretched more mileage out of it.

I did not expect for this clubsandwich to be this pretty. It was also quite good. I'd say 4.2 stars our of 5 in my food tripping book.

These wooden planks to the beach are heaven! The sand can be scorching hot and its not nice when you are barefooted on the beach.
First, a dip in the water. The seas were a bit rough that day so waves were aplenty. I quite enjoyed playing with them.
Holidaymakers bring their own parasols and towels to the beach. Many do not mind the sun. This is what I like about beaches in Europe, than compared to Asia. Because people are on the beach and are not hiding from the sun.
It is now some siesta and down time.
There was a Russian family who did a full bathing show on the beach (see picture of me and the group behind). Out came the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. If they brushed their teeth, I would not have been surprised as well! I think some people need to go through Beach 101 training.
