Krioneri Beach Scenes in Parga, Greece

Ah, Dutchman and I cannot wait to go back to the Greek Islands this summer!


The first picture above was taken from the top of the castle ruins.

So for now we can only look back to our last year’s pictures... and drool (ugh).

Parga however is not an island. It is a coastal town in mainland Greece facing the Ionian Sea. We came here with the boat from Corfu Island, sailing from the capital, Kerkyra via Paxos. This was a very nice day trip with the boat.

Krioneri (or Piso Krioneri) Beach is the main beach of Parga which is located just beside the harbour and centrum. It is facing the popular Virgin Mary Island that you can swim to from the shore. You can also take a pedal boat if swimming is not your forte.

Nevertheless, a very busy beach but great as well for people watching =)

Have no idea what this is, but could be used for some game or sport exercise (swimming lanes).


The beach was quite full that day, and very hot!


There is always a place on the beach for everyone. Just bring your own beach mat, towel and hopefully parasol.


Nice open cafes and restaurants on the beach boulevard.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
