Turkish Breakfasts and a View of Istanbul Rooftops

Don’t you just love this view for breakfast?

One of the things I looked forward to during my stay in Istanbul were the breakfasts, mainly because of the view.

I stayed at the chic Nine Istanbul Hotel which is located in Beyoglu, just a few metres off the popular Istiklal Street. I will post pictures of the hotel another time as this post is about my breakfasts and the stunning view of Istanbul rooftops.

The breakfasts were held at the terrace of the hotel. They prepared a small buffet table for a simple breakfast which is a bit similar to the European Continental breakfast, Turkish version of course. You can as well opt for room service, but with a view like this, why would you?

This is my breakfast on my second day in Istanbul:

Just a very light breakfast for me: Orange juice, black tea, a slice of simit (pretzel like bread with sesame seeds), some jam and butter, tomatoes, black and green olives, cucumber, turkey ham and 2 kinds of white cheeses (dil peyniri and ogur peyniri).

The views I have while having breakfast on my second day in Istanbul.

This is my breakfast on my third day in Istanbul.

The weather started not so great. It actually rained for a few hours in the afternoon. I also had to sit inside for breakfast as there was a group of Spanish women having theirs at the terrace. I have more privacy inside and it is much cosier as well.

I have the same breakfast as yesterday.

This is also quite a typical Turkish breakfast. Tomatoes and cucumber are a must for Turkish breakfasts, as well as these cheeses. The fibre like cheese is called dil peyniri and the cut ones (they actually look like braids) is called orgu peyniri. I love both!

As you can see the weather is a bit greyish.

My breakfast on my last day in the city.

On the fourth day in Istanbul, which is my last day, the weather was quite hot, hitting above the 20C+ mark. The hotel usually prepares a buffet table but on this day they gave me a plated breakfast instead. Well, it was nice for a change.

Starting a beautiful day with a nice breakfast.

I was served with a different type of cheese. A simple breakfast which is just enough for me as I do not eat huge in the morning. In fact, this is already a lot for me. I left all the bread on the table and just ate a little piece of simit.

The modern buildings in the modern part of Istanbul. I never got to go there though.

The city of Istanbul is waiting again for me on my last day.
