Dutch National Military Museum: Fokker 27 and Breguet Atlantic

Last winter in December, Dutchman and I visited the newly opened National Military Museum of the Netherlands located in Soesterberg Airbase, Utrecht. It was a very cold, snowy and nostalgic day. It was snowing non-stop the whole day. The museum however was an amazing experience and many of the pieces brought us back in time.

Now, not surprisingly, I took a gazillion pictures, so having said that, I first did not know where to start. As you can see, it took me 7 months to get this first post out! I may have to do a series of blog posts for this museum as I want to show you most of the pictures I took on the blog.

Nevertheless, I will start posting the pictures I took outside the building. The beautiful high-tech modern museum is stunningly built in glass. It is a beauty to behold.

I also posed with the Fokker 27 (F27), an old retired cargo plane of the Dutch Royal Air Force.

Strangely enough, I kind of miss winter.

Thanks to the Dutchman for helping me ID these planes. He is an aircraft geek you know. I am sure he has many planes to ID for the coming posts!

I think my beret hat was just apt for the ocassion =)

To give you an idea where it is located. It is near Amersfoort and about an hour from Amsterdam.

Dutch Royal Air Force (Koninklijke Luchtmacht)

The red - white - blue pie is the insignia of the Dutch Royal Air Force.

The Breguet BR1150 Atlantic plane. The tail is used for submarine surveillance. The plane is used by the Royal Dutch Marine (Koninklijke Marine).
