Les Carroz (French Alps): Chilling Out on the Slopes at the K Alpine Lounge Restaurant
One of the things I love to do during our wintersport holiday is chilling out on the slopes.
Of course at a nice outdoor terrace with the perfect view of the Alps. The perfect view is the easy part because when you are up in the mountains, the views above there are perfect everywhere in every corner. It does not matter where you are really. I just need to find a cool terrace.
However, for this wintersport holiday we did not really have a lot of great terrace weather. If it was not snowing, the mountains were covered in very thick mist. Bummer. We only had 2 days of sunny weather which means I only had 2 terrace chill out sessions.
On one of the 2 nice weather days, Dutchman and I skied to Les Carroz, one of the ski resort villages that is part of the Le Grand Massif ski area. Just above the village on the piste of the Les Carroz gondola station you will find the K Alpine Lounge Restaurant & Snack Bar. It has a very nice location with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The lounge restaurant has also a big outdoor terrace with sun loungers and some music as well. Perfect.
Now this is really what I call my "me time". A personal time to chill out and regroup after skiing for an hour or two. This is also the time for the Dutchman to live up his snowboarding skills. He likes to make more slope mileage and do a bit of off-piste runs (not the daring I hope!). Not for me. I am contented with a chill out terrace session + lovely view + people watching. Come back and pick me up after half an hour darling. Oh, make that 45 minutes please.
Win-win. Relationship is about compromises and meeting halfway =)
