Grand Massif: Massif Slope Views from the Lift | France Ski Holiday
Dutchman and I took these pictures during our day skiing to Les Carroz which is located in the Massif part of the Grand Massif ski terrain in the northern part of the French Alps.
If you ski, or if you want to learn skiing, you would really need to be prepared to face heights. And not just being on top of the mountain 2,000 metres above sea level, but being high up on a cable in an open-air chair lift as well. Some lifts are not that high, but the lifts here in the Grand Massif ski resort surprisingly were and quite long as well.
This is a scary thought to even entertain but I have known a few people who have fallen off from the cable lift and cabin. An ex-colleague of mine for example had a traumatic accident. His kid fell out of a chair lift, and luckily, the child survived. Taking on the lifts is not something to be nonchalant about, one must exercise utmost precaution and security.
Because I ski, my pet peeve when taking a chair lift is sitting beside a snowboarder. They tend to take so much space when getting off and it stresses me out, although I do understand that lifts are the snowboarder's nemesis. Unfortunately the Dutchman is a snowboarder. So we always make it a point that we have 2 empty seats between us so that we have enough space to manoeuvre when getting off the chair lift. Well, for his sake really.

There were a few lifts that were very long that it takes 20 minutes or more to arrive the top.
