Sunset in Lefkada from the "Lovers" Wooden Footbridge

Sunset in Lefkada is quite romantic.


The lovers wooden footbridge aka "Bridge of Sighs" in Venetian style architecture in Lefkada town is a popular place to watch the sunset in the island. I can imagine during the peak season that the bridge will be bursting with people, er, I mean lovers.


The bridge is built on a canal beside the pedestrian boulevard that is filled with restaurants, cafes and bars. It is very busy here in the evenings.


The wooden footbridge connects to a walkway on the canal. The view of the sunset is spectacular here. My pictures do not do it justice.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Walking Discoveries and Map of Porto Centre

Porto is a lovely, old and rough-hewn city and I have very much enjoyed my visit here last March. The city centre is easily walkable which I adore. I am a great fan of walking. Walking is actually what I do best when travelling, I walk from one square to attraction to another, and it is no secret that I indulge in food, thus after sampling different types of local delicacies, it makes me feel good that those calories are going somewhere else other than to my (bulging) stomach and (flabby) arms. However, if you are mobility challenged, there are the old world trams and modern sightseeing buses to bring you around.
