Cologne, Germany in Pictures

I took these pictures of Cologne last October (2016).

Many of the shots were random street scenes during my walk from the Cologne Hauptbahnhof (central train station) to the office, to the hotel and to the core centre.

I do not go to Cologne anymore as I have moved on to a different role in a new company since this summer. I cannot say I miss Cologne but I do not mind visiting the city in the near future again.

Autumn is my favourite season.

Interestingly, drivers in Cologne are quite an aggressive lot tooting their horns for what seemingly little mindless city traffic. But the local pedestrians though are very disciplined to wait for the pedestrian stop light to turn green before crossing the street, even if there is no passing car. 

The Deutsche Post - Compared to the Netherlands, snail mails by post are still very big business in Germany.

Some random building art which reminds me of the 1970s.

A Catholic Church - St. Maria der Kupfergasse. Did you know that Germany is a largely Catholic country? And did you know that the (Protestant) Reformation started in Germany as well with Martin Luther initiating it?

Farina fragrance museum and shop, at the birthplace of the original Eau de Cologne in 1709. I have been going to Cologne for years and have never visited this place. Just a peek from the window.

Heumarkt, one of the big squares in the city. Lots of bars and outdoor cafes here.

Going out in Cologne (near the Fish Market).

The Fish Market area in Cologne facing the Rhine Boulevard and the Rhine River. Lots of pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants here. From here one can see the lighted Hohenzollern Bridge.

At the Ex-Vertretung Bar they sell these bottled cocktails from Kukki. I tried the Boston cocktail which was okay. Perhaps too sweet for me. Any cocktail anyway is too sweet for me.
