Skiathos, Greece: Day on Agia Eleni Summer Beach and Dinner at Salt & Pepper Restaurant

This is one of our favourite beach chill days in Skiathos.

Agia Eleni Summer  Beach.

Lounging the whole afternoon until early evening on Agia Eleni Summer Beach in the Koukounaries and then followed by a nice dinner at Salt & Pepper Restaurant nearby....

Ah, I reckon, just a normal day in the Greek Isles =)

Ah, just another warm and sunny day on Skiathos island...

We found Agia Eleni Summer Beach a few days earlier than this visit. We were on our scooter surveying the southwestern part of the island for beaches. Keeping in mind the nice beaches for us to come back. Agia Eleni Summer Beach was one of them.

There are a number of items why we love this beach and these are:

    -   The beach is not crowded
    -   The lounge beds are fitted with soft beds
    -   The waters are calm and perfect for swimming
    -   There is a bar restaurant
    -   There is (good) music
    -   There is wifi!

From Google Maps:

The beach is very trendy, has a lot of energy and attracts a young following. There are a number of lounge areas with hammocks, beds, and bean bags which speaks to the millennial and younger crowd. Were both Gen X and not Babyboomers so we just fit in right.

I have been reading reviews online about this place and it was very interesting to see the huge number of complaints about the rude staff and owner. I am not sure if we encountered this, but then again, we did not eat here or bought drinks. I did buy 2 ice cream and that was it really.

June to early July is still low summer season so this beach is not crowded at all. I am pretty sure that its different during the peak summer season here.

We took loads of pictures!

The bar restaurant played some really good music, the kind of music Dutchman and I would listen to. Music makes the world go round, so having music on the beach resort is very high up on our list of a good beach. But in between, I tuned in to my own downloaded music, from time to time.

The lifeguards on Agia Eleni are female and sexy, which could probably be the beach resorts' marketing and brand campaign to attract visitors. #baywatchbabe

At almost 50, I think I have given up dreaming a great bod like when I was in my teens and 20's. There is more to life these days than having a fit Coca-Cola body everyone would envy. I have become more content because honestly, I cannot say no to a mouthwatering "Fruits de Mer" lunch for example. My metabolism is also really slow and I blame aging and genes because of this. Plus there's the endless procrastination of running and exercising. I have stopped running because of the winter, so I have another month or two before I (officially) start being active again. So many excuses but I don't care. I live life how I want it to be =)

I was also reading my first Nicci French book, an English husband-wife team who writes psychological thrillers. I read the "Als het Zaterdag wordt", one of the Frida Klein series which is called "Saturday Requiem" in English. The story and writing were okay. When I finished reading a book while on holiday, I normally leave the book behind, so I was not sure why I brought this back with me to the Netherlands.

Dutchman is reading the book now because he saw some positive reviews about the couple author, but unfortunately, he is having a hard time enjoying this book.

That's me. Good morning sunshine!

Pillows and bean bags on the beach and this is the beach (cocktail) bar.

Ice cream is delicious when eaten on a hot beach.

These girls were together with a group of guys and they were playing the game the whole afternoon. Young people are active, while oldies like Dutchman and I prefer to just watch.

One of the boat cruises on the island. We also did a boat cruise to Skopelos and Alonissos islands.

We spent until very late on the beach. We probably left just before 20:00, just enough to see the sun changing to yello and orange as it goes down the horizon. The golden hour is something Dutchman and I always look forward to when on the beach in the Greek Islands. We wait until the last rays of the sun have left the beach and there's only a few people left. Sometimes we would be the last people to leave. We like that.

We have seen the Salt & Pepper Garden Bar Restaurant from the road so we thought we will give it a try on this particular day. The restaurant is located near Troulos.

The restaurant has some beige rockwall going on that reminds me of house construction back in the Philippines in the 1970's and 1980's.

Cheers! That's my real hair there. No blog dry, no stretching, no hair lotion, just natural curly hair.

The food here was very good and it shows in the number of guests that evening. Patrons just kept flowing in, hour after hour that night and we can understand why.

The calamari I ordered was crispy yet juicy and fresh. This was one of the best seafood I have had on this holiday. I also loved the dips they gave us for the bread. Dutchman's souvlaki was also right on with the flavours. We really enjoyed this dinner. We liked the whole atmosphere of the place as well.

Writing and seeing these pictures made me now yearn for the summer...

We were given some dips for the bread, so we didn't order starters anymore. We rarely do anyway. The bread and dips are usually part of the cover charge already.

I ordered some kalamari. This was beautifully cooked. Delicious.

The Dutchman had some chicken and pork souvlaki with pita, tzatzikii, and fries.

After dinner, we moved to the bar area for our coffee.

The restaurant as you can see was quite full.
