At Home with Covid-19: Breakfast - Lunch - Snack - Dinner

Image
Covid-19 aka Coronavirus has surely changed our life, our working habits, and our lifestyles at home! I haven't been on holiday this year. I mean seriously, this is taking a big impact on my sanity. We were supposed to go skiing in the Alps last January but since I started with a new job, we let the holiday slip for the time being. Instead, we were planning of going somewhere far around March timeframe, like to another continent, but then the merciless Covid-19 struck, and we got helplessly stuck at home. That's right, we have been longing to go on holiday now for months, and this Friday (tomorrow!) we will be flying down to the south of Europe! Yes, with disinfectants and masks and all, ready in our luggage.

Valletta: A Maltese Breakfast, Visit to the Palace Armoury, Stunning Saint John's Co-Cathedral and Upper Barrakka Gardens

Image
Travel Period: November 2018 Destination: Valletta, Malta I thought I have seen the most lavish and ostentatious interiors of churches in Vatican City and Bella Italia, but Malta proved me wrong in this holiday. Saint John's Co-Cathedral is the most flamboyant of them all churches. See the evidence in this post.

Our First Day and Evening in Valletta, Malta

Travel Period: November 2018 Destination: Malta Malta is one of the small countries in the world, I believe it ranks the 10th!

Oud Zuilen, Netherlands: Slot Zuylen (Zuylen Castle) + Dinner at Bistro Belle

Image
Visit Period: March 2019 Location: Oud Zuilen, Utrecht, Netherlands There were a few international colleagues in town and being the assigned entertainer, sometimes self-appointed because no one else will do the honours anyway, I took them out for dinner. I have been here at Bistro Belle a while back with the Dutchman, however, it was on an afternoon. We had some tea and delicious apple pie. So I thought that it's not a bad idea at all to come back for dinner.

Officially Midlife at 50

Happy birthday to me! Right, I have turned the page and entered the midlife stage last June. I am now part of the 50 youngins :) In observance of Covid19 and to make my life easier in preparing the food, I did a 2-day celebration for the family. Nothing fancy and big really. I tend to shy away from parties and crowds so I made this as a small, cosy and family-only event.  Saturday was a barbecue dinner and Sunday a long lazy lunch. The weather was on our side, which was awesome, so quite happy with it as I was already ready to do a raincheck a week later if the weather acts up. 50 is a big number but I do not feel 50 at all, although, sometimes I wish I do. Dutchman managed to document the 2 days with pictures, albeit not properly. It did not surprise me at all. Well, the Saturday barbecue dinner pictures came without the barbecue, haha. He started early with the game, taking pictures here and there whilst I was preparing food and setting the table, and on towards ...

Pre-Summer Preview at Home in Utrecht

Image
We've had great weather this weekend except for today's Sunday. It is 16C outside with grey skies, periodic scattered rain showers, and there is a very strong wind blowing. There's a little windstorm going on. Friday and Saturday were great pre-summer preview days for us. Especially yesterday Saturday when temperatures reached 25C.
